In a very strange, round-a-bout way, we have become friends with a girl, Heidi Weimer, who has adopted twice from Ethiopia. Her family has a great story that is worth your time. I highly recommend reading their blog. She seems to be able to put her thoughts into words better than I can. I love her answer when people ask, "Do you think all Christians are supposed to adopt?"
